Video Game Museum from Association MO5

MO5.COM is a French non-profit association founded more than 20 years ago and recognized as a public-interest organization. It is devoted to the preservation, communication, and sharing of our digital heritage – that is, machines covering the history of computing since the post-war era, along with various kinds of software and documentation, and including of course videogames.

Leveraging its collection of more than 70,000 items, MO5 has organized numerous public exhibitions over the last two decades, some of them in prestigious locations such as the Grand Palais in Paris. On the 30th of October, during the Paris Games Week opening, it proudly announced the creation of the Video Game Museum (“Musée du Jeu Vidéo”), which is to open in early December 2025.

MO5 is one of the founding members of the European Federation of Game Archives Museums and Preservation Projects (EFGAMP). This new museum thus joins an international network of leading worldwide institutions that work together to preserve our digital heritage.

The permanent exhibition will cover the period from the 1950s to the present day in a dedicated 1200 m² space (around 13000 sq ft), and will host more than 140 consoles, arcade cabinets and micro-computers that will be playable and at the disposal of up to 200 visitors. This space can also be reconfigured to host various temporary exhibitions and events. The museum will also feature a restaurant, a 200 m² space dedicated to preservation and research, along with a maintenance and diagnostic workshop that will allow the public to have their machines repaired.

Ultimately, MO5 aims to obtain the “Musée de France” label, which will ensure the protection of its collection and allow mutual loans with other museums.

Located in Arcueil, the museum is easy to reach in around 20 minutes by public transportation from the center of Paris. A parking lot is also available opposite the entrance. It will be open to the public from 2 PM to 6 PM, and the admission fee is expected to be less than €10.

The museum will soon have its own website for ticketing, reservations, partner information, and any other practical details.
