The MO5.COM association has the great pleasure of announcing that Bertrand Brocard, co-founder of Cobrasoft, has just joined the association as an honorary member. He will also participate in the Support Committee for the National Video Games Museum.
He considers our initiative necessary and welcome, and offers us his support by agreeing to become an honorary member of the association. There is no doubt that the support of such a personality from the world of video games will help us to make ourselves known and develop.
Born on January 30, 1953, Bertrand Brocard founded ARG Informatique in 1982, in Chalon-sur-Saône, one of the first video game publishing companies in France which became Cobrasoft during his association with Gilles Bertin. Bertrand Brocard created several games for microcomputers including the Meurtres... series (1985-1988), investigation games accompanied by real clues, the simulation HMS Cobra (1986) or adaptations of the film Les Ripoux (1987) and the comic strip La Marque jaune (1988). While the Cobrasoft label, awarded numerous Golden Tilts, was bought by Infogrames in 1986, Bertrand Brocard founded the Hitech Productions studio which developed software for the main publishers of the time, including Full Metal Planète (1989) based on the eponymous strategy game. In 1991, Bertrand Brocard set up IWP, a subsidiary of Infogrames dedicated to CD-i and then CD-ROM titles; he is notably the author of International Tennis Open (1992). From 1994 to 1996, Studio B, its multimedia department, produced several dozen edutainment software programs before creating InfoKids, Infonie's youth space. Bertrand Brocard is working in parallel on the construction of a Video Game City in Lyon and on a major prefiguring exhibition. In 1998, with his team, he left Infogrames and created with Patrick Oster the online service Kazibao, a company listed on the stock market in July 2000. He was its editorial director until August 2001. Bertrand Brocard then sold his shares to create Daoditu, an interactive and events communications agency. In 2007, he imagined one of the first local information sites then invested in the design of exhibitions. In 2014, he began sharing on a Facebook page the numerous documents he had collected in the “Cobrasoft Fund”. The interest of the public and academics in these rich archives led him to reactivate the Video Game City project by developing the part linked to the preservation of video game heritage and founding in 2016 the National Video Game Conservatory of which he is president. The CNJV's mission is to preserve the creation and production documents of video games, from the original idea to the box.
