The MO5.COM association has the great pleasure of announcing that Éric Chahi, creator of Another World, has just joined the association as an honorary member. He will also participate in the Support Committee for the National Video Games Museum.
He considers our initiative necessary and welcome, and offers us his support by agreeing to become an honorary member of the association. There is no doubt that the support of such a personality from the world of video games will help us to make ourselves known and develop.
As a teenager, Éric Chahi created his first games in 1983 on Oric Atmos and Amstrad for Loriciels. He continued his career on Atari ST and Amiga with Joan of Arc and Journey to the Center of the Earth, published by Chip. He then left the company in 1989 to join Paul Cuisset at Delphine Software, where he created the graphics for Voyageurs du Temps. It was in 1991 that Éric Chahi became famous, developing Another World almost alone. The game is also notable for its revolutionary use of vector graphics, inspired by the rotoscoping technique used by Jordan Mechner for Karateka. It would take Eric Chahi six years to complete his next project, Heart of Darkness. After this difficult development, he left the video game industry to study nature, particularly volcanoes. After releasing an HD version of Another World in 2006, he made his comeback and managed to reconcile his two passions with From Dust, a God Game produced at Ubisoft Montpellier and planned for 2011.
