The MO5.COM association has the great pleasure of announcing that Laurent Cluzel, co-creator of the game City of Lost Children, has just joined the association as an honorary member. He will also participate in the Support Committee for the National Video Games Museum.
He considers our initiative necessary and welcome, and offers us his support by agreeing to become an honorary member of the association. There is no doubt that the support of such a personality from the world of video games will help us to make ourselves known and develop.
Born on September 10, 1967, Laurent Cluzel already illustrated his high school's fanzines before obtaining a scientific baccalaureate and then a Fine Arts diploma. In 1989, he was hired by Titus where he designed the graphics for Knight Force, Wild Streets and Fire & Forget II. After less than a year, he decided to become a freelancer and created games for different publishers such as Starush (1992) for Ubisoft, but the action/adventure game LightQuest remained unfinished and the shoot 'em up Zodiac on Mega Drive was canceled by the publisher. Subsequently, Laurent participated in the graphics or game design of titles like Psyborg (1992) for Loriciel or Kether (1993) for Infogrames, and he is the author and project manager of Crime of the Gods which would become Fable (1996) at Telstar. In 1994, he was recruited into a studio founded by Sony and Psygnosis to work on the adaptation of the film City of Lost Children (1997), then he won an internal competition to complete Holm, based on LightQuest, but the departure of the studio manager again caused the abandonment of the project... He then joined CHAMAN Productions where he designed an MMORPG which unfortunately did not see the light of day either. On the other hand, the adaptation of the animated film Kaena: The Prophecy (2004) which he supervised within Xilam came out well, and allowed him to come into contact with the world of Japanese animation, via collaborations with Yoshitaka Amano and Rintaro. In 2007, he returned to video games via the Moroccan subsidiary of Ubisoft, where he was the artistic director of two episodes of Prince of Persia on Nintendo DS, as well as the training of young recruits. Returning to France in 2009, he began creating mobile game prototypes before joining Chocolapps from 2011 to 2016. Since then, Laurent Cluzel has been a video game consultant, has designed board games and was also creative director for the company wiZama where he designed three prototypes for a board game console based on connected objects. Now director of bachelors at the E-Artsup school in Nantes, he still hopes to one day bring LightQuest to fruition!
