The MO5.COM association has the great pleasure of announcing that Raphaël Gesqua, composer of Mr. Nutz, has just joined the association as an honorary member. He will also participate in the Support Committee for the National Video Games Museum.
He considers our initiative necessary and welcome, and offers us his support by agreeing to become an honorary member of the association. There is no doubt that the support of such a personality from the world of video games will help us to make ourselves known and develop.
Born February 11, 1972 in Paris, Raphaël Gesqua cut his teeth in electronic music via the 16-bit demoscene under the pseudonym Audiomonster, before debuting in video games (under his real name) with the music for the ultimately canceled Amiga port of Snow Bros. (1990), on behalf of the French subsidiary of Ocean Software. It closed in 1992, but Raphaël found his programmer Pierre Adane and his graphic designer Philippe Dessoly for Mr. Nutz (1993). At the same time, he arranged the soundtrack for the Amiga version of Flashback (1992) published by Delphine Software, of which he became the sound director and composed the music for Shaq Fu (1994), Fade to Black (1995) and Moto Racer (1997). He then resumed his status as an independent composer and signed numerous soundtracks, notably for the publisher Neko Entertainment (Code Lyoko, Gunslingers, Cocoto, etc.). In particular, the music of Glory Days / Super Army War (2005) was praised by the press and that of Pop Island (2009) earned him a nomination for the Video Game Millennium. In 2003, he began a career in cinema, first on short films then on the films Livide (2011) and Aux yeux des vivants (2014) by the director duo Julien Maury / Alexandre Bustillo as well as Ce Sang Qui Va Couler (2016) by Christophe Monier, and on the documentaries Super 8 Madness! (2013) by Fabrice Blin and Kirby at War (2017) by Marc Azéma and Jean Depelley. In 2018, the publisher Microïds revealed that Raphaël Gesqua would reunite twenty-five years later with Pierre Adane and Philippe Dessoly to compose the music for their remake of Toki (1989).
