La City of Versailles and theMO5 association present Europe's biggest video game retrospective, Game Story, at the Ancienne Poste in the heart of Versailles, opposite the Château du 19 October 2024 to 13 April 2025. This exhibition retraces 70 years of video game historyIt can be played on games consoles, PCs and arcade terminals. A one hundred machines and up to 500 games will give you the chance to discover or rediscover the world of video games.
More than 100 playable machines A selection of key works from the history of video games, by some of the world's greatest authors, will be on display for visitors. Since the first game video Tennis For Two" to the world in 1958, including the first arcade terminal "Computer Space" from 1971, as well as Pong and the first games consoles Atari, Nintendo, SEGA, etc...
The "Game Story"will conclude with a selection of modern games including virtual reality, with a special focus on French creations.
For example, there are 5 great games:
- Pong in the arcade, the first ball game that's still fun to pick up thanks to its extreme simplicity!
- Prince Of Persia on the Apple II, the video game that made its creator Jordan Mechner famous is renowned the world over for its high quality, rotoscoped animations.
- Streets Of Rage 425 years after the release of the last episode in Japan, this fourth opus in Sega's famous saga of street fighting games is published by French publisher Dotemu and is a huge success worldwide!
- Dead Cellsthe edgy, retro-modern platform game created in Bordeaux, is a worldwide hit on consoles, PCs and mobile platforms.
- Asterix & Obelix Baffle them all! is an arcade game from Microïds featuring the famous heroes of the eponymous comic strip!
From workshops The association's volunteers will be on hand to repair and maintain historic machines, as well as those brought in by visitors. A shop allows visitors to leave with an object linked to this half-century-old culture and a memorable souvenir of their visit.
L’évènement ouvre du Mercredi au Vendredi de 12h à 19h et du Samedi au Dimanche de 10h à 19h. Le billet d’entrée est à 7€, ave cun tarif réduit à 5€ pour les moins de 26 ans et gratuit pour les moins de 6 ans.
