By contemporary popular cultures we mean the mix of cinema, television, cartoons, video games, comic books, novels, music, internet creations and digital technologies that form a shared culture for our fellow citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Yet our country has major assets in the field of creative industries and video games. It is unique in that it combines a very strong artistic culture with a strong technological culture. To name just a few areas, it has excellent training in art, computing, graphics, web design, comic strips, engineering and video games, producing talent that is recognised the world over and has led to the development of leading companies.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-63-1-0-2\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce\" data-index=\"5\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">A wealth to be exploited<\/h3><div class=\"textwidget\"><div>Yet France doesn't have the visibility that Japan or the United States do in these areas. Who knows that many of the American science fiction films of the 1980s owe their aesthetic to the series published in the French comic magazine M\u00e9tal Hurlant? Who knows that France was at the forefront of 3D video games in the 1990s and is now a major player? Who knows that today France is literally flooding animation and video game studios around the world with its 3D designers and animators?<\/div>\n<div>\nHowever, apart from occasional exhibitions in establishments dedicated to other subjects, video games and the associated popular culture are not presented on a permanent basis, and certainly not in the foreground. That's why we're proposing the creation of a new cultural institution in the Paris region.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"m_3610875420574760506x_MsoNormal\">What we are proposing is a major museum of video games and contemporary popular culture, combined with a creative industries campus. It would present, chronologically and thematically, the cultural productions shared by every generation of French people, from the 1960s to the present day. From the 1970s onwards, the backbone of the museum would be video games and digital technologies. There would be French productions and foreign productions that were successful in France. After all, you can't understand the children's TV shows of the 1980s without Japanese cartoons, just as you can't forget the hit French productions of the time, such as \"Il \u00e9tait une fois la vie\".<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-63-1-0-3\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_siteorigin-panels-builder panel-last-child\" data-index=\"6\" ><div id=\"pl-w5c94d5b7383d8\"  class=\"panel-layout\" ><div id=\"pg-w5c94d5b7383d8-0\"  class=\"panel-grid panel-no-style\" ><div id=\"pgc-w5c94d5b7383d8-0-0\"  class=\"panel-grid-cell\" ><div id=\"panel-w5c94d5b7383d8-0-0-0\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce panel-first-child\" data-index=\"0\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">An interactive museum<\/h3><div class=\"textwidget\"><p>The museum would be based on the \"accessible museum\" concept that MO5.COM has been developing for over 15 years in the video game industry. Everything will be done to ensure that everyone can access the objects on display. The video games will be playable in their original conditions on period hardware. This principle will apply to all media.<\/p>\n<p>For comics, a dedicated room will display original albums in showcases and a comfortable reading area will allow visitors to consult the corresponding albums. In a room dedicated to the wave of disco music in France, seats equipped with directional speakers will allow visitors to listen to the records of the era, by Sheila, Claude Fran\u00e7ois and others.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-w5c94d5b7383d8-0-0-1\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce\" data-index=\"1\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">A family and intergenerational museum<\/h3><div class=\"textwidget\"><p>It will be a family museum, with each generation being able to explain the content of its own period to other generations. It will also be a contextual museum, offering historical, aesthetic, economic and social explanations to help visitors understand the objects on display.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-w5c94d5b7383d8-0-0-2\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce\" data-index=\"2\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">Collections already available<\/h3><div class=\"textwidget\"><p>The MO5.COM association has built up the largest collection of video games and digital technologies in Europe, with a view to donating it when a national museum opens. Other collections already exist to complement it in related fields.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-w5c94d5b7383d8-0-0-3\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce\" data-index=\"3\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">A successful theme<\/h3><div class=\"textwidget\"><p>There have already been many successful exhibitions in this field, from the smallest to the largest:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mo5.com\/en\/event\/game-story-une-histoire-du-jeu-video\/?event_date=2011-11-10\">Game Story: A History of Video Games<\/a> at the Grand Palais, <a href=\"https:\/\/mo5.com\/en\/event\/une-histoire-de-jeux-video-game-story-quebec\/?event_date=2013-04-24\">A History of Video Games at the Mus\u00e9e de la Civilisation du Qu\u00e9bec<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/mo5.com\/en\/event\/exposition-game-a-fondation-edf\/?event_date=2017-03-01\">GAME at the EDF Foundation<\/a>Goscinny and the cinema at the Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que fran\u00e7aise, Barbie at the Mus\u00e9e des Arts D\u00e9coratifs, Miyazaki-Moebius dialogue between creators of worlds at the Paris Mint, etc.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><div id=\"panel-w5c94d5b7383d8-0-0-4\" class=\"so-panel widget widget_black-studio-tinymce widget_black_studio_tinymce panel-last-child\" data-index=\"4\" ><h3 class=\"widget-title\">A major venue, a new popular space in Paris<\/h3><div class=\"textwidget\"><p>The museum will need to be on a par with the major establishments in the Ile-de-France region in terms of surface area if it is to offer attractive displays to visitors.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the museum will open a specialised public library and will be staffed by teams of researchers (historians, ethnologists, art historians). Par cultures populaires contemporaines nous entendons ce m\u00e9lange de cin\u00e9ma, t\u00e9l\u00e9vision, dessin anim\u00e9, jeu vid\u00e9o, bande dessin\u00e9e, roman, musique, cr\u00e9ations sur internet, technologies digitales qui forme une culture partag\u00e9e pour nos concitoyens. Notre pays dispose pourtant d&#039;atouts majeurs dans le domaine des industries cr\u00e9atives et du jeu vid\u00e9o. Il a en effet la particularit\u00e9 de concilier une tr\u00e8s forte culture artistique avec une forte culture technologique. Il dispose, pour ne citer que quelques domaines, d&#039;excellentes formations en art, informatique, graphisme, webdesign, bande dessin\u00e9es, ing\u00e9nierie, jeu vid\u00e9o qui produisent des talents reconnus dans le monde entier et ont permis le d\u00e9veloppement d&#039;entreprises de premier plan. Pourtant la France n&#039;a pas la visibilit\u00e9 que peuvent avoir le Japon ou les Etats-Unis dans ces domaines. Qui sait qu&#039;une grande partie des films de science-fiction am\u00e9ricains des ann\u00e9es 1980 doivent leur esth\u00e9tique aux s\u00e9ries publi\u00e9es dans le magazine de BD Fran\u00e7ais M\u00e9tal Hurlant ? Qui sait que la France a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 la pointe des jeux vid\u00e9o en 3D dans les ann\u00e9es 1990 qu&#039;elle en est aujourd&#039;hui un acteur majeur. Qui sait que la France d&#039;aujourd&#039;hui inonde litt\u00e9ralement les studios d&#039;animation et de jeu vid\u00e9o du monde entier avec ses dessinateurs et ses animateurs 3D ? Or, sortis d&#039;expositions ponctuelles dans des \u00e9tablissements d\u00e9di\u00e9s \u00e0 d&#039;autres sujets, le jeu vid\u00e9o et la culture populaire associ\u00e9e ne sont pas pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s en permanence et surtout pas au premier plan. C&#039;est pour cela que nous proposons la cr\u00e9ation d&#039;un nouvel \u00e9tablissement culturel en \u00cele de France. Ce que nous proposons, c&#039;est un grand mus\u00e9e des jeux vid\u00e9o et des cultures populaires contemporaines, associ\u00e9 \u00e0 un campus des industries cr\u00e9atives. Il pr\u00e9senterait dans un parcours chronologique et th\u00e9matique les productions culturelles partag\u00e9es par chaque g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de fran\u00e7ais, des ann\u00e9es 1960 \u00e0 nos jours. La colonne vert\u00e9brale du mus\u00e9e serait \u00e0 partir des ann\u00e9es 70 fournie par le jeu vid\u00e9o et les technologies num\u00e9riques. Il y aurait les productions fran\u00e7aises et les productions \u00e9trang\u00e8res ayant connu le succ\u00e8s en France. Par cultures populaires contemporaines nous entendons ce m\u00e9lange de cin\u00e9ma, t\u00e9l\u00e9vision, dessin anim\u00e9, jeu vid\u00e9o, bande dessin\u00e9e, roman, musique, cr\u00e9ations sur internet, technologies digitales qui forme une culture partag\u00e9e pour nos concitoyens. Notre pays dispose pourtant d'atouts majeurs dans le domaine des industries cr\u00e9atives et du jeu vid\u00e9o. Il a en effet la particularit\u00e9 de concilier une tr\u00e8s forte culture artistique avec une forte culture technologique. Il dispose, pour ne citer que quelques domaines, d'excellentes formations en art, informatique, graphisme, webdesign, bande dessin\u00e9es, ing\u00e9nierie, jeu vid\u00e9o qui produisent des talents reconnus dans le monde entier et ont permis le d\u00e9veloppement d'entreprises de premier plan. Pourtant la France n'a pas la visibilit\u00e9 que peuvent avoir le Japon ou les Etats-Unis dans ces domaines. Qui sait qu'une grande partie des films de science-fiction am\u00e9ricains des ann\u00e9es 1980 doivent leur esth\u00e9tique aux s\u00e9ries publi\u00e9es dans le magazine de BD Fran\u00e7ais M\u00e9tal Hurlant ? Qui sait que la France a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 la pointe des jeux vid\u00e9o en 3D dans les ann\u00e9es 1990 qu'elle en est aujourd'hui un acteur majeur. Qui sait que la France d'aujourd'hui inonde litt\u00e9ralement les studios d'animation et de jeu vid\u00e9o du monde entier avec ses dessinateurs et ses animateurs 3D ? Or, sortis d'expositions ponctuelles dans des \u00e9tablissements d\u00e9di\u00e9s \u00e0 d'autres sujets, le jeu vid\u00e9o et la culture populaire associ\u00e9e ne sont pas pr\u00e9sent\u00e9s en permanence et surtout pas au premier plan. C'est pour cela que nous proposons la cr\u00e9ation d'un nouvel \u00e9tablissement culturel en \u00cele de France. Ce que nous proposons, c'est un grand mus\u00e9e des jeux vid\u00e9o et des cultures populaires contemporaines, associ\u00e9 \u00e0 un campus des industries cr\u00e9atives. Il pr\u00e9senterait dans un parcours chronologique et th\u00e9matique les productions culturelles partag\u00e9es par chaque g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de fran\u00e7ais, des ann\u00e9es 1960 \u00e0 nos jours. La colonne vert\u00e9brale du mus\u00e9e serait \u00e0 partir des ann\u00e9es 70 fournie par le jeu vid\u00e9o et les technologies num\u00e9riques.
