Press release: French association MO5 opens its video game museum in Paris in December 2025

National Video Game Museum from Association MO5

Video Game Museum of the MO5 association

MO5 is a French not-for-profit association founded over 20 years ago and recognised as being in the public interest. It is dedicated to preserving, promoting and sharing our digital heritage - that is to say, the machines that trace the history of computing since the post-war period, as well as a wide range of software and documentation, including of course video games.

Drawing on a collection of over 70,000 items, MO5 has organised numerous public exhibitions over the past two decades, including some in prestigious venues such as the Grand Palais in Paris. On 30 October, at the opening of Paris Games Week, the association proudly announced the creation of the Video Game Museum, scheduled to open in early December 2025.

MO5 is one of the founding members of the European Federation of Video Game Archives, Museums and Preservation Projects (EFGAMP). This new museum joins an international network of major institutions working together to preserve the world's digital heritage.

The permanent exhibition will cover the period from the 1950s to the present day, in a dedicated 1,200 m² space, and will feature more than 140 playable consoles, arcade terminals and microcomputers, accessible simultaneously to almost 200 visitors. The space can also be reconfigured to host temporary exhibitions and various events. The museum will also include a restaurant, a 200-square-metre area dedicated to preservation and research, and a maintenance and diagnostic workshop where visitors can have their own machines repaired.

Eventually, MO5 aims to obtain the «Musée de France» label, guaranteeing the protection of its collection and enabling loans and exchanges with other museums.

Located in Arcueil, the museum can be reached in around 20 minutes by public transport from central Paris. A car park is also available opposite the entrance. It will be open to the public from 2pm to 6pm, and admission should cost less than €10.

The museum will soon have its own website for ticketing, bookings, partner information and all practical information.
