Podcast #26 - Music and Video Games

After two very dense programmesMO5.COM Podcasts are back for a less encyclopaedic, more relaxed issue that leaves more room for debate in its second part. To discuss the delicate issue of music in video games, we have invited two talented composers from very different backgrounds: Romain Gauthier (MagnetisEDGE) and Olivier Derivière (ObscureRemember Me), who had already made some fascinating contributions to the Rencontres Vidéoludiques. Exceptionally, the programme was recorded at the association's premises using the Freepod.

There is a lot of music that could be mentioned here, but of particular interest are the theme d'ActRaiser "borrowed" from Fox, possible influences from Streets of Ragethe Robo theme in Chrono Trigger and disturbing associations of ideas the videos demonstrating the new iMUSE via Monkey Island 2 (12 and 3) and finally videos corresponding to a passage cut during editing, and evoking music imitating the electric guitar: Wizball(1987), Chuck Rock (1991) anda recovery d'Eternal Champions (1993).
